A storybook romance swept me from my American childhood to marriage, life and a teaching career in Yorkshire. I have two grown-up sons and a wonderful Finnish daughter-in-law.

Me with hubby, sons and my dog, Buster.

Becoming an author seemed as likely as being a princess or an astronaut but after twenty years at the chalk-face, I left schools behind and set my mind to the dream. So far, I’ve had several poems, short stories and articles published, won a handful of local prizes, as well as being invited to speak at events in the UK and US.

A foodie, I recently discovered the joys of grow-your-own, love ‘doing up’ old houses, reading, badminton, skiing and various crafts.

Could there be a more beautiful place to garden?

I write using a pen name because my first book was a memoir and I didn’t want some of the people mentioned to be easily identifiable. But I also wasn’t sure I could write a book and thought maybe this other person could manage it!

Discussing possible names in the pub with friends, I discarded “Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake” as a suggestion but settled on the inspiration that came from a packet of peanuts and a bag of crisps ;o)

I reckon that the dog is Nuts, and the bloke on the left protecting his knee is Crisps.

    Everyone else is called Banana.
